Talent night 2009

Here are three videos for anyone who wants to watch them. The first is my class, the 6th grade girls. They did an awesome job. The video isn't the best quality and I was at a bad angle, but I still think it looks great!

The second video is Jordan's class. He did a great job too! He is a natural on stage. :)

And lastly, it is Nathanael's class. He loves being a helper and getting to participate in talent night, LOL. I'm proud of him for going along with it all!

Jordan the teacher

Well all those years of piano lessons are finally paying off, but not for me. Jordan has his first official "job" as a piano teacher. My friend called me a while ago asking me if I had time to teach her son how to play piano. LOL. I don't have any extra time, but Jordan does. And so he is now an official piano teacher. They were so cute today. Jordan seemed to really like it. I hope Ezekiel likes it too! Good job, Jordan!

Jordan's sleep over

Last night Jordan had a sleepover for his birthday. No big party this year. He invited three friends for food, video games and an air soft fight. Jordan doesn't like cake, so I made him brownies.

His present from Vince. Just in time for the heat this weekend!

On to the air soft fight. The boys turned our backyard into a battlefield. They had soooo much fun.

Vince was the first casualty of the battle. His poor face. It reminds me of the time Nathanael got one right in the center of his nose. Ouch! Jeremy's was worse, right in the stomach. I think they will all survive though. :)

Group shot. Andrew, Nathanael, Jordan, Vince, and Jeremy. I love the expression on Jeremy's face!

Jordan with his present. This was all he wanted for his birthday, and he got it!

Swimming and a field trip

Today was the first day of our Easter vacation. I started by taking Caleb to swimming lessons. This has been such a blessing! Caleb does not know how to swim and I am always so nervous each summer going to friend's houses that have pools. When my friend from Bible study's daughter, started offering swimming lessons to help support her mission trip to South Africa I signed Caleb up.

I love this picture of his foot. You can't see his instructor, she is in front of him, you can only see his foot!
Here she is trying to convince him to jump in the water. He is getting better, but he is still afraid. I love that they have that whole big beautiful pool all to themselves!
After swimming lessons we went on a field trip. I know it's Easter vacation, but this was a fun one for the kids. It was the CSI exhibit at the California Science Center. Here they are looking at the crime scene and writing down their clues.
The crime scene.
They all took it so seriously!
Then they had to go to the lab and try to figure out all the clues they had written down from their notes at the crime scene.
At the end, they put all their results into a computer and it told them if they were right or not.
They did great!
Scott had to come on this field trip with us. :-)
Group photo. This was a great field trip, especially for the older kids. Then it got even better!
Not so much a great field trip for the younger ones, but I suppose you are never to young to learn not to do drugs!
They were having so much fun in this tunnel. It was supposed to be a drug trafficking tunnel.
Caleb didn't care what it was, he just wanted to play in it. :-)
This showed what your brain looked like on drugs, literally.
To give poor Caleb a break, Scott and I took him into the "little kid" area for kids 7 and under. Here they are building a house.
Here is Caleb upstairs working on the roof.
We had a lot of fun building that roof!
Caleb's favorite part of the whole museum was seeing the little chick that had just hatched. We didn't get to see it actually hatch but we saw the shell it came out of. There was another one trying to peck its way out. It was so cute.

Yummy!!!

I never buy candy just to buy it. I fight the urge when I am in the check out line at the grocery store or Target. I don't buy it because I know I will eat it and once I stop I can't stop. I have NO self control AT ALL. I even did a study in the Bible on self control once because when it comes to food I have NONE. But, when I was shopping for Easter candy today and I saw THIS, I couldn't pass it up. I like Jelly Bellys and I love Cold Stone and when you combine the two, YUMMY! So, my self control is gone, almost half the bag of candy is gone, my dentist is going to love me because of my cavities and this is WHY I don't buy candy!!!

Traveling Light

When I went to our Ladies Getaway a few weeks ago, they were having a drawing for different books. When they read the back cover of this book I leaned over to my friend and said, "I want that book." Well, when they read the name of who would win the book, my friend leaned over to me and said, "Angela Lasch." What was so funny was as she was saying my name they were calling her name and she won the book! She was kind enough to let me read it first since I really, really wanted to. I just finished it and it was excellent! Here is what the front cover says:

Releasing
The Burdens
You Were Never
Intended
To Bear
The Promise of Psalm 23
As most people I'm sure, Psalm 23 if one of my favorite. Christian or not, it seems everyone knows at least part of Psalm 23. Years and years ago my grandmother gave me a book that studied Psalm 23 and broke it down verse by verse and all the wonderful meaning behind it. I always remember how much that book spoke to me and so I was excited to yet again read another commentary on this Psalm. But this book is much more than that, you can actually use it as a Bible study (which I didn't realize until I was done with the book that there was a study guide at the back), but anyways. This book really spoke to me. I highly, highly recommend it!
